After we helped generate the most supportive public comments that the EPA has ever received on a draft rule, President Obama announced the first ever nationwide mercury standard for power plants just earlier this year.

This historic rule will save thousands of lives each year, and help protect our environment from toxic pollution. The statewide mercury standard we helped pass in Illinois also helped give the nation confidence for a federal standard.
