Governor Blagojevich backs historic mercury reductions

Environment Illinois was proud to stand beside Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Jan. 5 as he made a historic commitment to reduce mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants by 90 percent by 2009. If this measure becomes law it will benefit Illinoisans’ health and environment for generations to come.
