Stop the carp!

We need to stop the Asian carp. Scientists recently found evidence that the carp are perilously close to getting into Lake Michigan through Chicago-area rivers and canals.

This is an urgent threat to Lake Michigan. The carp are huge -- they can grow to be 4 feet long and weigh as much as 100 pounds. If they get into the lake, they'll devastate the ecosystem and push out native species. Ask Gov. Quinn to push to close the locks, and develop a long-term plan to prevent the carp from invading Lake Michigan!

Saving national forests

Thanks to our federation’s work, more than 1.5 million citizens nationwide called on the Clinton administration to protect pristine areas in our national forests, resulting in the Roadless Rule. When the Bush administration attempted to overturn the rule, we worked with governors in seven states to petition to protect their forests.
